Illusions in Truth and Justice

In Truth and Justice, Illusion based powers are not defined.

After mulling over illusions, I came to the conclusion that illusion based powers define a very broad spectrum of abilities. A light illusion is simply light shaped to look like something. Sound illusion mimics sounds that may or may not exist. Mental illusions alter senses in one or more person's mind. Magical illusions can be both mental and physical or neither! Other shadowy illusions, cosmic, physiological, psychosomatic, etc... The list goes on and on. Not to mention the illusion of something not being there. A.k.a. Invisibility. The types of invisibility can be almost as numerous.

Illusions can be almost anything. However, there is a common thread among illusions. Illusions are perception based. So, your rank in the ability would reflect this. Rank affects things such as believability and accuracy or how "real" it seems. Even if the illusion gives off no sound, if it's good enough, then people will believe there is a sound coming from it or ignore the fact that the sound is missing.

Physically, ranks can also represent the size of the illusion.
Mentally, ranks can represent the minds strength to beat.
Magically, ranks can represent the resistance to dispelling it.
Alien, ranks can represent the detail an illusion has.

Then there is the odd illusion. Illusions that are not always illusions. Part substance part ephemeral. How "solid" is the illusion? How much strength does the Shadow Illusion of an Ogre have? The Rank can represent the Ogre's "normal" strength. Then allow for the Ogre to have Super Strength if the player spends a Hero Point (or two).
Does an illusion of a telescope give you the ability to see the stars? Maybe, depending on the nature of the illusion.

Illusions can be broad based or very specific depending on the nature of the illusion in question. On top of all that, for any illusion power use the examples from the powers that the illusion mimics. Use similar rank standards.

Well, there's my two cents.

vBulletin 3.5

I had been hoping for the ability to have uread posts only flagged as read after actually viewing the post. Now this version of vBulletin has it! The Calendar actually has a reminder built in. It looks like it works, and I know for sure in a couple days.
