Compuserve

It's strange how AOL purchased Compuserve. Now their GUI looks sooo much like AOL. I have a friend that is having trouble with it right now. She's not able to connect. I have to drive about an hour to go visit. I thought I'd download the latest version and take it with me. I have broadband access and she has dial-up.

The problem I'm running into is Compuserve has no full download of their software. When I called customer service, they pointed me to their 250K setup file.

I know they don't have their entire GUI within the 250K, but of course the rep said it was the full version.

I found the ftp site http://ftp.csi.com/ and downloaded a bunch of files that look like the setup CD for Compuserve. Lets hope this works!

vbAdvanced

I've enjoyed using vBulletin. To add more features to my site I searched for plug-ins or mods or any hacks that would allow me to utilize more of vBulletin. To this end I found vbAdvanced. They are potentially great, but my experience with their service has been lacking.

I purchased their install package for 15 bucks. It took a couple days, but then their agent got a hold of me and let me know he was working on getting their package installed.

We ran into a few snags. I was told I need to give him full access. So, I created an account for him. FTP access and Superuser status in the forum. The instructions too much in the way of their needs. Once we got that straighten out, which took two weeks to learn what I really needed to give them access to my site, I stopped getting any response from them.

It's sad really. So, I posted to their forum. Some admin said he would forward my information to my agent. My agent had been very busy. It was true. I know this because the number of posts he'd made on the forum was huge. When I got no response, I posted that I would purchase another install.

That was useless. No new ticket was created for my new install. I was told that my agent was busy, but he would get to it. Just give him some time.

It's been over a month and a half. I still have not heard from my agent.

Thus, I cannot review their software.
